We’re looking forward to a good day of helping people tomorrow, Saturday, September 26th. We’ve line up a number of needs that can be met if we have enough people available:
- helping the Olsons, if possible with their need to store possessions and move from the house
- helping in Shore Acres, where we know of a number of families with both tree and flood issues.
- helping in places like Pearland and Sagemont where isolated needs may lead to new ministry.
- continuing to help on Galveston island and at other points south of our area.
To meet those needs we hope God will provide ten or so folks from Grace Bible Church, a number of Crisis Response teams, and a lot of Trinity folk.
In a couple of cases we need a little more detail in order to scope out the need. Here are some questions we’ll be trying to answer today. If you can reply by comment to the blog or by e-mail to Iva (ivaf@trinityfellowship.net) it will save some phone calls:
Sally (Olson) - what can most effectively be done for you on Saturday? Do the needs in Shore Acres still exist?
Wendy (Allen) - is this need still there? What is your mother-in-law’s address?
Joanna (Rask) - do you have addresses for the needs in San Leon and Galveston?
Debbie (Walters) - do you have names and addresses for the needs on Tiki Island?
Please pray that God would allow us to effectively help a few of the many people still devastated by Ike and battling fatigue and discouragement.

Bob, I will be participating wherever I am needed tomorrow. I will be available until about 4:00 or 4:30 in the afternoon, depending on how far away from home I am deployed, so the earlier I can start, the better. You may or may not know that I have almost no expertise in any "handyman" kinds of things, but I'm willing to learn whatever is needed.

NOTE: Addresses and need updates
A large amount of chain saw work has been located for the large team of chain saw folks who are on their way here for Saturday to do. It is over in Clear Lake Forest on the shores of Mud Lake in the back yard and adjacent to the back yard of Al and Betty Blevins who worship with Christ Church in Clear Lake. The work here in Timbercove, lots of it has been completed. If they had access to a taller crane or taller bucket, more chain saw work is high up in the trees. Does anyone know a believer whose business might have such a bucket in use during the work week but available on the weekend?
I have the addresses for the Galveston work recommended by Mark Thompson in another e mail, do you need a copy? I strongly urge connecting the EFCA team, and the Galveston Bible Church team with Mark's coworkers from UTMB.
My neighbors across the street, Michael and Jacqueline Fuentes, his cancer treatment lab work began yesterday, actual treatment begins tomorrow. They did not arrive home very early, so I was not able to find out how things went. Please pray for them. They still have some major tree stumps in their yard, the EFCA group have no means for stump removal or grinding. Their renter from their Galveston property is staying with them, the place in Galveston is devastated and they may need help cleaning up in Galveston.
This is a copy of part of the message I sent out on Sunday with the details for the couple in San Leon, I need to find where I wrote down their phone numbers
Lisa & Byron Pope
747 - 5th St.
(corner of 5th & H)
San Leon, TX
The phone she was able to use and get through to me on was 713-306-4663 but I think it might belong to Keith Dill, so if you call one of these other numbers and it's Keith Dill's that's what I've gotten wrong.

They had 4 ft of water on their lower cement floor, the roof and upstairs are OK. She was given a generator for her refrigerator because she has medicine for her heart. Her doctor is Phillip Waller, her insurance is Humana, her diseases are amylosing spondylites, and rheumatoid arthritis. She has been trying to remove the mud, and sheetrock, she, her husband (and Keith Dill?). The concern she has is for her own health, since it's taking them so long to clean and they aren't making much progress. I asked about access to a pressure washer, they do not have one. The church they have connected with nearby is San Leon Community Church on 9th St. A pastor near her father in Arkansas brought down an emergency response trailer and left it with them, they've placed it with the pastor of San Leon Community Church for wider use. She was asking for help with clean up, they do have some tree needs, but her greatest concern is for her declining strength and health with the mud and contaminants in the lower floor.

Trees down but they are unable to take care of them because of
the medical situation. His gout is normally controlled by med, but
he is presently unable to take the gout medication because of the kidney failure.
He is in a great deal of pain.

EFCA Relief is on B1 under my (lurid, but eye-catching) byline. If you're out and about you might want to pick up a copy for some of the mission folks like Mark. Although he is on the Island, he may have more trouble getting a Paper. I did list both the New Orleans and Trinity's phone numbers in the piece.
Instead of being in the 'religion ghetto' on Saturday's, this one ran on the second front page. So we'll see if it has any impact.
In Him,
